The colour of a microphone over it
The colour of a microphone over the sound: a dynamic, a condenser or a ribbon, with proximity (closer is more bass), an AIR lift or cut on top, and a low cut for rumble. The same models the studio's closet is built on, as a box for any channel.
Four to a socket, in order: sound runs through the slots top to bottom. Open the box and every knob is in real units; BYPASS takes it out of the path without losing its settings; the presets are along the top; any knob learns a controller and gets an automation lane.
| Knob | Range | Starts at | Scale |
|---|---|---|---|
| MODEL | DYNAMIC · CONDENSER · RIBBON | DYNAMIC | steps |
| PROXIMITY | 0 to 1 | 0 | linear |
| AIR | -6 dB to 6 dB | 0 dB | linear |
| LOWCUT | 20 Hz to 300 Hz | 80 Hz | log |
Every box ships with a bank. AS SET is the knobs as you left them; the rest are starting points, each a sound someone wanted often enough to name. Star one and it sits at the front of the bank.
| Preset | MODEL | PROXIMITY | AIR | LOWCUT |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DYNAMIC | DYNAMIC | 0.3 | 0 dB | 80 Hz |
| STAGE | DYNAMIC | 0.6 | -1 dB | 120 Hz |
| CONDENSER | CONDENSER | 0.1 | 2 dB | 60 Hz |
| AIRY | CONDENSER | 0 | 5 dB | 40 Hz |
| CLOSE | CONDENSER | 0.9 | 1 dB | 60 Hz |
| RIBBON | RIBBON | 0.5 | -1 dB | 50 Hz |
| WARM RIBBON | RIBBON | 0.8 | -3 dB | 40 Hz |
| RADIO | DYNAMIC | 0 | -4 dB | 250 Hz |
Every box is also a line of the console's language, so a pad or a patch can carry its effects in text. The words are the knobs:
