The hit and the tail, each on its own
The hit and the tail, each on its own: a transient shaper with ATTACK for the front of a sound and SUSTAIN for what follows, twelve decibels each way, plus a level. Louder hits without a compressor; longer rooms without a reverb.
Four to a socket, in order: sound runs through the slots top to bottom. Open the box and every knob is in real units; BYPASS takes it out of the path without losing its settings; the presets are along the top; any knob learns a controller and gets an automation lane.
| Knob | Range | Starts at | Scale |
|---|---|---|---|
| ATTACK | -12 dB to 12 dB | 4 dB | linear |
| SUSTAIN | -12 dB to 12 dB | 0 dB | linear |
| LEVEL | -12 dB to 12 dB | 0 dB | linear |
Every box ships with a bank. AS SET is the knobs as you left them; the rest are starting points, each a sound someone wanted often enough to name. Star one and it sits at the front of the bank.
| Preset | ATTACK | SUSTAIN | LEVEL |
|---|---|---|---|
| PUNCH | 4 dB | 0 dB | 0 dB |
| HARD | 8 dB | -4 dB | 0 dB |
| KNOCK | 10 dB | -6 dB | -1 dB |
| SOFTEN | -6 dB | 0 dB | 0 dB |
| ROOM | 0 dB | 6 dB | -2 dB |
| DRY | 0 dB | -8 dB | 0 dB |
| LIFT | 3 dB | 3 dB | -1 dB |
Every box is also a line of the console's language, so a pad or a patch can carry its effects in text. The words are the knobs:
