Breathing in time with the track
Breathing in time with the track: a sidechain-style ducker driven by a clock at RATE rather than a key signal, with DEPTH for how far it dips and RELEASE for how fast it comes back. The house pad, the pumping bass, without routing anything.
As PUMP: X is RATE, Y is DEPTH. Touch to engage, lift to let go, HOLD to keep it.
Four to a socket, in order: sound runs through the slots top to bottom. Open the box and every knob is in real units; BYPASS takes it out of the path without losing its settings; the presets are along the top; any knob learns a controller and gets an automation lane.
| Knob | Range | Starts at | Scale |
|---|---|---|---|
| RATE | 0.25 Hz to 16 Hz | 2 Hz | log |
| DEPTH | 0 to 1 | 0.7 | linear |
| RELEASE | 20 ms to 1000 ms | 220 ms | log |
Every box ships with a bank. AS SET is the knobs as you left them; the rest are starting points, each a sound someone wanted often enough to name. Star one and it sits at the front of the bank.
| Preset | RATE | DEPTH | RELEASE |
|---|---|---|---|
| QUARTER | 2 Hz | 0.7 | 220 ms |
| HALF | 1 Hz | 0.6 | 400 ms |
| EIGHTH | 4 Hz | 0.6 | 120 ms |
| SOFT | 2 Hz | 0.4 | 180 ms |
| HARD | 2 Hz | 0.95 | 300 ms |
| SLOW | 0.5 Hz | 0.8 | 800 ms |
| DOUBLE TIME | 8 Hz | 0.7 | 60 ms |
Every box is also a line of the console's language, so a pad or a patch can carry its effects in text. The words are the knobs:
