The reverb that came in the disc drive
The reverb that came in the disc drive: the six rooms the console shipped with (room, studio, hall, space, echo, half echo), a TIME, a DAMP and a MIX. Not a plate; a chip's idea of a room, which is its own flavour.
Four to a socket, in order: sound runs through the slots top to bottom. Open the box and every knob is in real units; BYPASS takes it out of the path without losing its settings; the presets are along the top; any knob learns a controller and gets an automation lane.
| Knob | Range | Starts at | Scale |
|---|---|---|---|
| ROOM | ROOM · STUDIO · HALL · SPACE · ECHO · HALF ECHO | HALL | steps |
| TIME | 0 to 1 | 0.6 | linear |
| DAMP | 0 to 1 | 0.45 | linear |
| MIX | 0 to 1 | 0.3 | linear |
Every box ships with a bank. AS SET is the knobs as you left them; the rest are starting points, each a sound someone wanted often enough to name. Star one and it sits at the front of the bank.
| Preset | ROOM | TIME | DAMP | MIX |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ROOM | ROOM | 0.45 | 0.5 | 0.3 |
| STUDIO | STUDIO | 0.55 | 0.45 | 0.3 |
| HALL | HALL | 0.6 | 0.45 | 0.3 |
| SPACE | SPACE | 0.75 | 0.35 | 0.35 |
| ECHO | ECHO | 0.6 | 0.4 | 0.3 |
| HALF ECHO | HALF ECHO | 0.5 | 0.4 | 0.25 |
Every box is also a line of the console's language, so a pad or a patch can carry its effects in text. The words are the knobs:
