What it is

Two pulses with four duty cycles, a triangle with no level of its own, and a noise channel with a short mode that turns into metal. Four-bit levels and a sixty-hertz driver, which is where the stepped envelopes and the arpeggios come from. It is the sound everyone can hum.

  • Pulse duty 12, 25, 50 and 75 percent, the thin to the hollow
  • The triangle bass with pitch drops for kicks and toms
  • Noise in long and short mode: hiss, or a pitched metallic buzz
  • Driver-rate arpeggios and vibrato, written as words on the console
